How to Dispute Inaccurate Information on Your Credit Report

Disputing information on your credit report is not a difficult process. If you have purchased the My Fico credit report package, then it is strongly recommended to use their credit report disputing procedure. 

If not, then you can simply write a letter to the bureau with the false information and request that they remove it.

When you write the letter, be sure to include a photocopy of the credit report with the inaccurate information highlighted or circled so that it is easy for them to find and remove.

Sample letters are included at the end of this chapter.  Look for the letters with the orange banner at the top to indicate that they will help you dispute items on your credit report.
