Increase Your Income

 

There are many ways to increase your income and help you eliminate your debt quicker. 

When working on managing your money and eliminating your debt, there are a wide variety of different things you can do to help the situation. 

While this book mostly focuses on eliminating the debt that you have by managing your credit cards, dealing with collection agencies, and avoiding foreclosure, it will also help if you learn how to manage your budget and increase your income as well.

Let’s start by discussing your budget – and I don’t mean the piece of paper you created four years ago and can’t even remember what you put on it.  A budget must be a living document and a way of life.  Even the best planned budget does no good if you do not use it to guide your spending and financial decisions. 

For example, if you allotted $80 for groceries in your weekly budget, but decide that you absolutely have to have the expensive deli meat and you end up spending $100, where does that leave you? 

If you are managing your budget correctly, then you would need to find a way to make up that extra $20 that you spent at the grocery store so that you do not blow your budget. 

For example, if you are shopping and want that expensive deli meat, perhaps it means skimping on other grocery items that week to make up the difference.

In order to create a budget, you need to list all of the income and all of the expenses that you have.  Then, take a realistic look at those expenses and develop a budget that you believe you can live with.  If your budget has too many expenses and not enough income, then you might want to find a way to increase your income to help you manage your finances better.
